SmartSink – A Smart Sink

I have a problem with most sinks. At 6’2″ tall (above average), sinks are simply not at a comfortable operating height for me. This isn’t a big deal most of the time, but if I have to spend more than a few minutes at the sink – washing dishes perhaps – it’s pretty much a guaranteed recipe in back pain.

MIT student Leonardo Amerigo Bonanni has pretty much solved this problem with the introduction of the SmartSink – a sink which, among other things, features adjustable height! My back can fear he sink no more! Also on tap (haha) is automatic water temperature adjustment and a silicone surface to reduce noise and prevent accidental dish breakage.

The product seems mostly targeted at the kitchen, but no saying you can’t have one of these for all your toothbrushing needs (well aside from the fact that it’s not a commercially available project that is).

This is currently making the rounds in the blogosphere, but coverage can be found all the way back to 2004.
