The Toepener

The Toepener. It’s a door handle. For your feet. Which frankly sounds like a perfectly reasonable idea.

But you know somebody’s stretching it when this is featured prominently on the product page:

Each Toepener includes:

1. Signage for mirrors and doors
2. Four stainless steel screws per Toepener
3. One machined etched and powder-coated American aluminium Toepener

Yay for screws?

Great option but it’s not a new idea. StepNpull came out in 2007 which is the same concept. http://www.stepnpull.com Thanks

Yes, the StepNpull exists. I’ve used the Toepener and it is much easier to use, especially when you’re in heels or the floor is slippery. Way to go, kids! Keep up the good work!

Hey Mike, looks like stepnpull knew their idea wasn’t new either, at least according to your website:

“They found a few other products on the market that mounted on the door and let the user pull the door open with their foot. Those devices required the user to place the toe of their shoe upward and into the device and then pull back. Although this method works, it did not seem to be an easy or natural movement.”

Looks like you made a good idea better, and got credit for doing so, just like the Toepener people. America!!!

Whether Toepener works better than StepNpull is a matter of opinion. I do know the Toepener design works because it’s very similar to one of our first prototypes. There are pros and cons to both.

[…] couple of days ago I posted about the Toepener. Well that generated a flurry of responses, or at least what we call a flurry around the ICBE. One […]

Whether one works better than the other IS a matter of opinion, but the overall opinion seems to be that the Toepener is better.

The Toepener is launching a new contest starting today until April 30! Submit any business that you think needs a Toepener to contest@toepener.com— at the end of the month, the business with the most nominations will receive two free Toepeners!

Looks like Toepener changed their website to http://www.thetoepener.com

They also lowered their price to $39.95
