Peeing With Your Pants Around Your Ankles

I am 32 years old. Clearly, were I to use a public urinal, it would be gross (and possibly illegal) for me to pee with my pants down around my ankles, exposing my buttocks to the world.

On the other hand, I am the father of a 2 year old. He still mostly pees in his diapers, but if he did use a public urinal (one that went all the way to the floor naturally), and he did have his pants around his ankles, that seems like it would be just fine.

Well. Just fine from a “hey, he’s just a little kid” point of view, not from the point of view that your pants are now dangerously close to the disgusting bathroom floor. Letting your pants actually rest on the floor is never good etiquette. But I digress.

The question is where, between the ages of 2 and 32, do we draw the line? Or is any child old enough to pee at a urinal old enough to do so with his pants at a reasonable height?

This is not merely an idle question. Today I came across a young boy in the bathroom with his pants way, way down, and while I’m not sure exactly what age he was, I’m pretty darn sure he was too old to be peeing like that.

According to WebMD, some third graders can have bladder control issues, so I’d say kids as old as 9 have a free pass to pee with their pants around their ankles…

Any etiquette rules on when teachers should let kids go to the bathroom…? :)

I placed this on facebook.
As Ular Fish got older he would go the men’s room at basketball games and since he wore jogging britches he would drop’em to his ankles when at the urinal. What a site, a little old man’s bony little butt glaring at you. I’ve seen vistors make an instant about face at that site. Better to wait outside but they’re still scared for life.
