The 2009 Livestrong Challenge

Last year the ICBE donated all of its October ad revenue to the Red Cross, to help relief efforts for the wildfires which spread across southern California (where we happen to be headquartered). We wanted to do something similar this year, so we are proud to announce that the ICBE will be participating in the 2009 Livestrong Challenge, raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

What’s the Lance Armstrong Foundation you may ask? I think their own words probably explain it best:

The Lance Armstrong Foundation unites people to fight cancer, believing that unity is strength, knowledge is power, and attitude is everything.

Through the dollars and awareness that we raise, we can inspire and empower individuals, and we can make life better for the millions of people across the globe fighting cancer today.

Let’s face it, cancer sucks. Sooner or later, it touches each and every one of us through friends or family. My grandmother died of cancer, my wife’s aunt died of cancer, and I have a cousin in his 20’s who’s battling cancer right now.

I’m also proud to say that the ICBE is part of Team Fat Cyclist: Fighting For Susan. If you don’t read FatCyclist.com you should. Fatty’s wife Susan has been battling cancer for years now – cancer that started in her breasts and moved to her bones and now her brain. A wonderful woman with a husband and four young kids who is dying of cancer. Did I mention cancer sucks?

Now October’s ad revenue was enough to register to participate and make an initial $20 donation – so now we need your help.

My personal goal for this year is to raise $1000 – every little bit you contribute helps.
