17% of Americans Disgust Me

Yep, you read that right, but before you slag me want to know why? Because 17% of americans don’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom in public! That’s just plain gross, but it generally agrees with my own observations, and it’s the result of a recent study by the American Society for Microbiology and the Soap and Detergent Association. The article states that researches actually observed 6,336 people in public restrooms, so it sounds like their results might be accurate – of course I’d be curious to know the details of how exactly they observed bathroom-goers, especially because I suspect that more people wash their hands if they think somebody else is washing.

In any case, anything less than 100% is a dramatic failure in our society. Shame on everyone who doesn’t wash their hands!
